Cybersecurity Awareness Month

10.10.2022

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the National Cybersecurity Alliance have designated the theme of Cybersecurity Awareness Month this year to be “See Yourself in Cyber”. While cybersecurity may seem like a complex subject, ultimately, it’s really all about people.

A few action steps you can take this October include:

  • Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication: Passwords alone don’t protect you; MFA make you less likely to get hacked.
  • Recognizing & Reporting Phishing: If a link looks off, think before you click it!
  • Focus on Strong Passwords: Passwords should be long, unique, and randomly generated.
  • Regularly Update Software: Don’t delay these actions, act promptly when you see a software update notification.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a great reminder for everyone that there are all kinds of ways to keep your data protected; even by practicing the basics of cybersecurity, you can make a huge difference.

By taking steps such as enabling Multi-Factor Authentication, using strong passwords, recognizing and reporting phishing, and updating software regularly, we can all increase our cybersecurity postures at home, at work, and in schools.
