Remote Workers Productivity

Remote work continues to be on the rise. We live in a hybrid workspace now and we don’t expect that to change.

What we’ve learned in the past 18 months is that the virus has broken through cultural and technological barriers that prevented remote work in the past, setting in motion a structural shift in where work takes place.

In fact, organizations that have enabled a resilient workforce to be more productive and healthier anywhere are also reaping financial benefits! A recent Accenture report found that a majority of high revenue-growth companies, 63%, have already enabled productivity anywhere workforce models.

The most essential element of remote worker efficiency is having the right tools! While your laptop is what you use to actually perform designated tasks, it’s also your main means of communication. On top of that, there is a wide range of cloud-based software designed specifically to help remote teams with communication, productivity, task management, and the sharing of information. Here are a few tips and trick for boosting the efficiency of remote workers:

  • Avoid public Wi-Fi; if necessary, use personal hotspots or some way to encrypt your web connection.
  • Keep work data on work computers.
  • Minimize security vulnerabilities with email encryption and security protection.
  • Utilize team communication and video conferencing applications.

A 2020 study from the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research found that 42% of the U.S. workforce now works from home full time, accounting for more than two-thirds of economic activity. A challenge: online connectivity. Only two-thirds of those surveyed reported having the 90% or greater internet connectivity needed for video calls. With the remaining third reporting that they have such poor internet service that they are unable to effectively work from home.
