Cybersecurity Awareness Month

10.11.2021

October is officially known as Cybersecurity Awareness Month! Now in its 18th year, Cybersecurity Awareness Month continues to raise awareness about the important of cybersecurity across the nation. It helps ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.

Encouraging individuals and organization to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace, stressing personal accountability, and highlight the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity, this year’s theme is “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.” Datasmith is excited to share security tips and tricks with you throughout the month!

In addition to this year’s theme, the National Cyber Security Alliance has prepared weekly focus areas for promotion and outreach efforts throughout the month.

Created as a collaborative effort between government and industry, Cybersecurity Awareness Month was launched in 2004 by the National Cyber Security Alliance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In 2009, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano launched Cybersecurity Awareness Month at an event in Washington, D.C., becoming the highest-ranking government official to participate in the month’s activities.

In 2010, the kickoff of Cybersecurity Awareness Month also included the launch of the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. campaign. President Obama’s proclamation for the month included STOP. THINK. CONNECT. as the national cybersecurity education and awareness message.

October is a great time to take stock of your cybersecurity posture.

When reading that, you might be thinking, “What defines a healthy cybersecurity posture?”

Well, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to cybersecurity; however, it’s important to have a solution that provides the following detection and response capabilities: network inspection, log analysis & search, threat intelligence, cloud monitoring, endpoint visibility, and compliance.

At Datasmith, we know what it takes to neutralize security threats and adapt safeguards to address potential future infiltration attempts swiftly and effectively. We know how important cybersecurity is and we want you to know it too!
