Did you pre-order the newest iPhone? Or upgrade it iOS 9? Then you may have noticed your data consumption increasing too. A new feature called “Wi-Fi Assist” could be the source of your increased data usage.

Apple unveiled Wi-Fi Assist as a way to boost speeds when connected to a low power Wi-Fi network. When the iOS senses lagging wi-fi, it will turn on data to help create a faster speed for the user. If you have unlimited data, then this really isn’t much of a problem for you.

But for many they are locked into a limited data usage per month. You can turn off Wi-Fi Assist in your settings. Check out the screen grab below.
